Committee Report – February 2021

President’s Report

Here is the latest from our President, Trent Steenholdt (president@wacua.asn.au)

  • Return – As you would have seen in the attached letter sent with the notice for the next General meeting, I have asked the committee to return to the President’s position. At our General Meeting, I am happy to answer as many questions as I can about the matter and hopefully share some context of what has happened and continues to happen on my road to better mental health.
  • Events – As we draw nearer to the end of the home and away season, I encourage you to make yourself available to the events coming up in our calendar. Make sure to read Ashlee’s report below for more context and detail.

Cheers,

Trent

Secretary’s Report

Here is the latest from our Secretary, Ashlee Gibbons (secretary@wacua.asn.au)

Hi everyone,

The end of the season is not too far away so it’s time to start thinking about our end of season events. Firstly we will be holding our usual Grand Final Breakfast on the morning on the Grand Final on the 27th of March. All umpires welcome, price of tickets to be confirmed closer to the date. Secondly we are organising our Annual Season dinner which at this stage will be on the 10th of April. We will be discussing the dinner further at the meeting.

Additionally, there are currently two vacant general Committee positions. If you are interested in filling one of these positions for the remainder of the season please send an email expressing your interest to secretary@wacua.asn.au.

If you have any queries about your membership please email secretary@wacua.asn.au.

Treasurer’s Report

Here is the latest from our Treasurer, Andrew Micenko (treasurer@wacua.asn.au)

Hi everyone. Apologies for not making it to last month’s meeting! It was just as much a surprise to me as it was to everyone else. I had a short holiday in Brisbane during the Christmas break, which got me caught up in a 2-week stay at home quarantine period.

There has not been much change in our accounts this month, with only a small amount of interest and a single membership fee coming in. Expenditure was also low, with the bar tab from January’s meeting not yet accounted for. It will come out of our account during the week.

If you take a look at the spreadsheet below, you’ll notice that I’ve adjusted the budget slightly. This is because we did not hold a standalone life members’ breakfast this year. It will be incorporated into the grand final breakfast.

Here are the current balances:
Cheque: $6,612.46
Savings: $14,408.51
Cash: $102.95
Total: $21,123.92

To stay above our $15,000 target, we have $6000 available to spend before the end of the association’s financial year. I don’t foresee spending that much. As the budget shows, the forecast is to finish the year on $16,300. However, if we look at the major expense items still to come out, the grand final breakfast should be cost neutral (after the WACA subsidy is applied). The end of season dinner is projected to cost around $2,200. If we take that away from the current balance, we’ll finish closer to $19,000.

Thanks again for reading,
Andrew
